Reagan Ogle: We need to keep plugging and fighting away

5 April 2024

Iron right-back Reagan Ogle gives a preview ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated encounter with play-off hopefuls Hereford, as his side look to build momentum from the penultimate home game of the campaign.

Firstly, Ogle reflected upon United’s vital Easter Monday victory over relegation candidates Southport that was secured thanks to an incredibly late winner from Max Kouogun: “The whole easter period was tough because there’s been a lot of games, especially for the back four, as there’s not been many changes, and we’ve definitely had to fight through heavy legs and long games.

“It’s been tough as part of the back four, but we all want to play every game and we knew going into the period that it was going to be exactly that given there’s been a few lads out injured and suspended.”

With the Iron confirming their play-off position on Monday, Reagan was asked to provide closure to the fact that the season is far from over with the hunt for the all-important second place still up for grabs: “We all know that its not job done until the final day and so we need to make sure we keep plugging and fighting away to get each three points.”

Scunthorpe’s previous fixture with the Bulls was an enthralling encounter that ended in a thumping 5-1 victory for United, however Ogle missed the tie through injury and previewed this time round by saying: “It was a great performance from the lads that day and I’m gutted that I missed out, however we know what they’re like, we’ve seen how they play and it’s going to be a good game.

“They could attempt to sit in like other teams, but they’re fighting for something so we know that they’re going to turn up so we need to match their energy and go one step further in order to get the win.”

With the Iron's injury list gradually decreasing, manager Jimmy Dean will be presented with a headache in terms of team selection, in response to this Ogle said: “The gaffer’s got a tough choice on his hands with pretty much everybody back fit now. It’s definitely going to give him a headache but its important for us that everybody’s fit and we have a lot of options going into these last few games.”
